When did you start drumming and why?
I started playing at the age of 9. I had already practised the snare drum for two years with a music teacher.
As a child, I was always very attracted to music and percussion. Even back then, rhythm was something I was particularly sensitive to.
On my 9th birthday, my parents took me to a music store and offered to let me choose and buy the instrument I wanted.
My gaze quickly fell on a drum kit on display in the store; the size and beauty of the instrument immediately amazed me.
From that day on, it was a revelation: the drums became a real playground for me, and a real passion!
What’s your favorite style of drumming?
Even though I’m used to playing several different styles of music with my different bands (for me, not being locked into a single style of music is important as a musician), I have to admit that rock is my favorite style of music!
Who is your favorite band/artist and why?
The first band that comes to mind is the Red Hot Chili Peppers: I love their music and I adore Chad Smith’s playing, which perfectly combines groove and power.
Why did you choose Vikory?
I’ve been seduced by the unique design of Vikory’s chopsticks, and their grip is really comfortable!
Any special stories about you as a drummer?
We were playing a concert in a bar in Lille with one of my bands. Everything went well, the atmosphere was excellent and the audience extremely motivated!
So I decided to play a particularly intense drum solo between songs. People were shouting to encourage me, so I kept going… until, in my euphoria, one of my drumsticks hit my nose.
I finished my solo with a bloody nose! I’ve always been told: the first rule of being a musician is to keep playing no matter what. And so I did!
What’s your favourite Vikory model and why?
My favorite Vikory model is the Ananda in 5A. I love the design of these sticks: a mix of colors oscillating between fire and water, it’s really cool!
What’s more, the weight and balance of these poles suit me perfectly!
Thank you Benjamin and welcome to the Vikory family!
