When did you start playing drums and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n I started playing my first real drums at the age of 9, although I vaguely remember building a drum kit in my garden before that.<\/p>\n I don’t really know why I wanted to play drums. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always paid attention to rhythm and meter in music. <\/p>\n Growing up, I used to go to church and always watch the drummer. I knew that was what I wanted to do. <\/p>\n What’s your favorite style of drumming?<\/strong><\/p>\n I don’t have a favorite style of music. What attracts me to music is the emotion and feeling the song conveys. <\/p>\n When I think about the songs I really like to play, what comes to mind is the emotion and how the song makes me feel.<\/p>\n I then set myself the goal of transmitting this emotion to the audience.<\/p>\n What’s your favorite band\/artist and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n I’ve always been a fan of Massive Attack. I think a lot of it has to do with the emotion and feeling they bring to their music. <\/p>\n They also seem very thoughtful about every sound used in a track. For example, if the snare drum sound had been different in a particular song, the song would not have been the same. <\/p>\n Why did you choose Vikory?<\/strong><\/p>\n I first heard about Vikory through the Kickstarter campaign. I was initially excited by the look of the chopsticks and couldn’t wait to try them out. <\/p>\n After receiving the first order, I was won over. These are the most beautiful chopsticks I’ve ever used. <\/p>\n I use them every day and they have proven their durability. They’re really well balanced and give me the responsiveness and feedback I expect from my sticks. <\/p>\n Any special stories about you as a drummer?<\/strong><\/p>\n I think it was somewhere in California, we were playing at an event with about 2,000 people. I’d been very ill a few days before. <\/p>\n We flew in the morning we were playing and in the afternoon we did our sound check and a little rehearsal. It went well, and I got by on cold medicine and cough drops. <\/p>\n After the sound check, I went back to the room and took a nap. Later that evening, I remember coming back to the room to get ready for the party and feeling really bad. <\/p>\n About halfway through our set, we played a rather slow piece and I fell asleep while playing. It was brief and I didn’t waste a second. <\/p>\n It was like watching a movie and trying to stay awake. Fortunately, we rehearsed a lot and I was able to rely on my muscle memory to keep me going. <\/p>\n What’s your favourite Vikory model and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n Visually, my favorite is the Ananda. I play mainly 7A, using the Ananda as 7A chopsticks and the Kukulkan as 5B chopsticks. <\/p>\n With the Ananda, I feel the color palette really suits me.
