When did you start playing the drums and why?
I started to play the drums when I was 8 years old. I saw some famous drummers playing Peruvian music during my holidays and I fell in love with the instrument instantaneously.
Then, I knew that I wanted to be a musician when I listened to Metallica for the first time in 2001.
I play different instruments as well: Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and a bit of Piano but the drum remains my true love story!
What is your favorite type of music to play on the drums?
I'm pretty eclectic but I must confess: Rock and Metal are my favorite types of music when I'm behind my drumset.
However, I did study Jazz music in different schools, and I also like playing funk and groove music.
What is your single favorite band/artist and why?
As a drummer, my answer is often mocked but I will always be in love with Metallica, even though it's not really the band that I listen to the most right now.
As of today, I’m really fond of artists like Alt-J, Twenty-one pilots, Ibrahim Maalouf, Emancipator, Gojira, Architects...
Why did you choose Vikory?
I chose Vikory because I'm really comfortable with these sticks and the design is really great! I can only recommend them!
Any special anecdote about you as a drummer?
In France, we have a national music day on the 21st of June. When I was 15 years old I played with a thrash metal cover band in Versailles.
The problem was that in this city the music had to stop at midnight, so the policemen began to unplugged the instruments and the public began to yell out of frustration.
So, as a drummer, and since my instrument is acoustic and already unplugged, I started a drum solo to make the public laugh.
The policemen did not laugh, however. Instead, they came to me and threatened to arrest me so I stopped immediately…
What’s your favorite Vikory model and why?
My favorite Vikory model is the Ananda model in 5A because the weight is correctly distributed on the sticks. Not too heavy and not too light.
But I have to admit it's a difficult choice to make.
Thanks, Savinien and welcome to the Vikory family!
